Technical notes
Clamps: high voltage insulation and flame resistance make it suitable for clamps connecting display units and printed circuit boards in aircraft, tanks and ships. (Previous material: acetal)
Surgical probes: probes machined from Duratron PEI rod can be sterilized and offer high strength and stiffness. (Previous materials: acetal, polysulfone)
Manifolds: manifolds for pharmaceutical process equipment, machined from Duratron PEI sheet, withstand hot chemical solvents and steam sterilization. (Previous material: aluminum)
Insulators: high-frequency insulators for microwave communication components can be machined from Duratron PEI. (Previous material: ceramic)

Frequently asked questions
What temperature can PEI withstand?
PEI keeps excellent strength and performance up to 170℃, with consistent dielectric properties over a wide frequency range even at that temperature.
What is the flammability rating of PEI?
PEI is rated UL94 V-0. It is also highly resistant to high-energy radiation such as gamma rays and X-rays.
Can PEI be used for medical device parts?
Duratron PEI complies with FDA and USP Class VI and withstands repeated autoclave sterilization. It is used for reusable medical devices and surgical probes, and medical-grade Duratron PEI comes in various colors.
How does Duratron U2300 PEI differ from U1000 PEI?
U2300 is U1000 reinforced with 10%, 20% or 30% glass fiber. It retains most of the base material’s properties while adding rigidity and dimensional stability.
